Ana Camila Esteves
Festival Director, Curator, Producer, Researcher
Ana Camila Esteves is a Brazilian journalist, cultural producer, researcher, and film curator. She has earned a master's degree in film studies and a PhD in contemporary African cinemas, focusing on Netflix's venture into Nollywood in Nigeria. As the co-founder, director, and curator of Mostra de Cinemas Africanos/Brazil African Film Festival, she leads the only festival in the country exclusively dedicated to showcasing contemporary African films. She is also a contributing curator for the Africa in Motion Film Festival in Scotland, the Durban International Film Festival in South Africa and a member of the selection committee for the Vues d'Afrique film festival in Canada. Her collaborative efforts extend globally, as she engages with various institutions and festivals in Brazil and abroad, contributing as a curator, programmer, jury member, teacher, panelist, and translator. After concluding a post-doc at King's College London with a research n African film festivals, she is currently a post-doc researcher at the Federal University of Niterói (UFF) with a research on the cinematography of contemporary Nigerian cinema.
